What this is
I'm Matt, and I write about roofing on the north Kent coast — flat roofs, pitched roofs, fascias, soffits and the gutters that tie them together. The aim is to explain how these things work and why they fail, using the kinds of buildings you actually see around here.
What it covers
The guides stay close to home. Some are about a place and its typical housing stock; others tackle a particular job or problem.
- Coastal flat roofing where the weather is brutal — Seasalter and the exposed shoreline
- Conservation-area and listed work in Canterbury, Faversham and Sandwich
- Seafront fascias, soffits and gutters at Tankerton
- Parapet and valley gutter upkeep on Margate and Ramsgate terraces
- Flat-roof garages, extensions and GRP at Birchington and Chestfield
How I write it
Answer first, then the detail. I'd rather tell you the likely cause of a damp patch than pad a page out. Where coastal conditions change the usual advice, I say so, because they often do.
Who it's for
About the area
Whitstable, in Kent, has plenty of history of its own. For background on the town itself, its Wikipedia page is a good place to start.
